The 37th meeting of the Advisory Council on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS member states is planned to be held in Ashgabat in the second half of this year. Turkmenistan is a part of this structure and deeply involved in its activities.
Over the three decades of its work, the Advisory Council on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS member states has made a significant contribution to strengthening multilateral cooperation in the social and labor sphere. Established at the beginning of the Commonwealth's formation, it is one of the important bodies of sectoral cooperation. It carries out successful normative activities aimed at forming a common labor market, developing its infrastructure and assisting in the implementation of social policy of the member states.
The previous 36th meeting of the Advisory Council on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS member states took place on September 27, 2023, in Sochi. During the meeting, the Council members considered the social and labor situation in the countries and the measures being taken in this area, as well as the preparations for the Year of Volunteer Movement in the CIS in 2024. They also discussed issues related to legislation and law enforcement practices of the CIS countries regarding the provision of benefits for temporary disability, pregnancy and childbirth.
The participants of the meeting discussed the progress in introducing the Plan of Key Activities for the Implementation of the Conceptual Foundations of Cooperation of the CIS member states in the field of labor standards for 2021-2025, as well as the issues of platform employment and self-employment in the CIS countries and the world. They also made suggestions for possible regulation in these areas.
The meeting also addressed topics related to the population census in the CIS countries as an information resource for analyzing the labor and employment situation, the implementation of the Action Plan on implementing the first stage of the Economic Development Strategy of the CIS until 2030, and the inventory and updating of the contractual and legal framework for cooperation.
