The Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are expanding their cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

The Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and UNDP have launched the project “The Sustainable Development Goals Implementation Platform, Phase III”, demonstrating their commitment to the realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Turkmenistan.

The project, which is expected to last for two years, aims to promote sustainable development by strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan as the government body responsible for implementing SDG financing. It will focus on monitoring progress in achieving the SDGs, studying international practices in financing sustainable development, and preparing for accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Specifically, the project will provide expert support, together with international and national specialists, covering issues related to services and investments, access to banking and financial markets and analysis of tax legislation in line with WTO requirements.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has recognized the successful implementation and positive results of the phases I and II of the “The Sustainable Development Goals Implementation Platform” project and has approved its continuation.

The joint project “The Sustainable Development Goals Implementation Platform” between the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and UNDP was launched in 2018 and continued in its phase II in 2021. It serves as a collaborative platform for coordinating the efforts of relevant ministries, departments and UN agencies in achieving the SDGs.
