The tenth anniversary of the opening of the Italian Embassy in Turkmenistan will be celebrated with bilateral events

This year marks 10 years since Italy opened its diplomatic office in Ashgabat. Speaking on the 18th of February at the international conference «Magtymguly Fragi’s Concept of Peace and the Diplomacy of Neutral Turkmenistan», Italian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Luigi Ferrari said that a number of political, cultural, business and educational events are planned to be held on the occasion of this significant date. He noted the special role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries and peoples.

Over the years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Italy, bilateral dialogue has been successfully developing in various directions. Thus, at a meeting with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the 13th of February, 2024, the head of «Leonardo S.p.A». Stefano Pontecorvo noted that the Italian leadership attaches great importance to strengthening the bilateral partnership, in connection with which the readiness of the company he heads to further develop cooperation with Turkmenistan was also confirmed.

During the discussion of priority areas of cooperation, it was stated that productive contacts between Turkmenistan and Italian companies in the trade and economic sphere, energy and other industries, and in the private sector contributed to building up a solid potential for interaction.

In 2023, the Italian Embassy in Turkmenistan, together with the country’s Ministry of Culture, organized concerts dedicated to the 210th anniversary of the outstanding composer Giuseppe Verdi, as well as famous works of Italian opera and instrumental music.

In March of this year, it is planned to organize a joint concert of famous pianists of the two countries in Ashgabat.
