From February 20 to 23, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) "Government Support Program" (GSP) in partnership with the Mejlis of Turkmenistan conducted a four-day seminar, introducing parliament members to the best international practices in the legislative process.
A well-functioning legislative system is necessary to ensure effective governance, protect the rights and interests of citizens, and promote socio-economic development of the country.
USAID GSP collaborates with the Mejlis of Turkmenistan to strengthen the national legislative system in order to facilitate the effective implementation of state socio-economic and good governance programs.
In the past, USAID had organized seminars and trainings for Turkmen parliamentarians on best global practices in parliamentary processes and facilitated study trips to the United States for Turkmen MPs to learn about legislative systems.
