On the eve of International Women's Day on the 8th of March, the Centre for Public Organizations in Ashgabat summed up the results of the «Best Girls Club» competition, organized by the Ministry of Education jointly with the State Committee for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography and the Central Council of the Women's Union of Turkmenistan.
Creative groups of high school girls from all velayat of Turkmenistan took part in the competition.
At the final stage of the competition, held from the 1st to 3rd of March, four representatives who showed the best results in the preliminary competitions took part. According to the terms of the competition, the participants had to present in artistic form the name, activities and motto of their school club, as well as perform songs and poems about respect for elders and care for younger ones.
According to the second condition of the competition, the participants demonstrated their skill in needlework by completing work on the unfinished samples they brought. Then the girls had to serve the festive Turkmen dastarkhan, accompanying this with an expressive story using various sayings and proverbs about the methods of preparing dishes.
Based on the results of public voting using digital technologies, the main prize of the competition was won by girls from the «Meňli» club of specialized secondary school № 22 in Balkanabat, Balkan velayat. The first place was awarded to the «Päkize» circle, operating at school for gifted youth № 24 in the city of Mary, Mary velayat. Two second places were taken by representatives of the «Gülälek» club, which unites high school students of specialized school № 45 of the Ak Bugday etrap, Ahal velayat, and the «Gunça» club of secondary school № 41 of the Sayat etrap, Lebap velayat.
Three clubs took third place: «Tumar» of Ashgabat specialized school № 80, «Arzuw» of school № 10 in Arkadag and «Bagtyýar gyzlar» of school № 41 of the Gorogly etrap of Dashoguz velayat.
The winners were awarded certificates of honour and valuable gifts. At the Centre for Public Organizations in Ashgabat, where the event was held, an exhibition was also organized, presenting a wide panorama of the activities of girls creative circles in secondary schools across the country, samples of national embroidery, knitting, carpet weaving made by young craftswomen and other products of traditional needlework passed down from generation to generation.
