Today in the capital, a meeting was held between the Chairwoman of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova and the Member of the Austrian Parliament, the head of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group «Austria-Turkmenistan» Eva Ernst-Dziedzic. Issues of intensifying the activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups created on a bilateral basis, connections between relevant committees, and organizing mutual visits of delegations were discussed.

The guest was introduced to the structure of the Turkmen Parliament and the progressive policies pursued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the field of gender equality, youth, science and education, social security and environmental well-being.

The interlocutors especially noted that parliamentary dialogue has become an important part of expanding relations between the two countries, and the creation of inter-parliamentary friendship groups on a bilateral basis facilitates the exchange of experience in the legislative sphere.

Having discussed the state of Turkmen-Austrian relations and prospects for their development, the parties emphasized that there are great opportunities for increasing cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian fields.

Also, in the Mejlis, a regular meeting of members of the Turkmen-Austrian friendship group was held, at which they discussed the exchange of experience in legislative work, new approaches to environmental protection, ensuring gender equality, as well as ongoing activities to improve the political status of youth and women parliamentarians. The importance of regular bilateral meetings to enhance cooperation was emphasized.
