At the «Turkmenfilm» Association named after Oguzhan, work is in full swing on a new two-part feature film «Magtymguly», covering all stages of the life and creative path of the great poet and philosopher. The film's script is based on the play «Magtymguly» by Gylychmyrat Kakabayev, a performance of which is included in the repertoire of the Alp Arslan National Drama Theatre.
According to the director of the new film, Shyhly Mollayev, this literary basis was enriched with deep reflections and thoughts about the classical poet from the works of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. as well as new facts and legends from numerous new books dedicated to the 300th anniversary of «Magtymguly».
The other day, the film crew returned from the poet’s native village of Gerkez in the Balkan region, where important episodes of the film were filmed. Filming also took place in Ahal velayat, in particular in the Gokdere gorge.
The new feature film «Magtymguly» features leading artists from various theaters across the country, including the National Drama Theatre named after Alp Arslan and the State Drama Theatre named after Aman Gulmammedov of the city of Arkadag. The role of «Magtymguly» as a child is played by Muhammet Bayramov, and the role of a wise poet in his declining years is played by the Honoured Artist of Turkmenistan Yagmyr Gurbannazarov.
