Turkmen weightlifters train in Georgia under the guidance of a Chinese specialist

Turkmen weightlifters have chosen the sports base of the famous Georgian ski resort of Bakuriani as the place for their training camp. Under the leadership of the 52-year-old famous Chinese specialist Lin Shoufeng, the Turkmenistan national team of 8 athletes will prepare for international competitions here until the 20th of June.

According to the State Sports Committee of Turkmenistan, the team that went to a training camp in Georgia included: first-class athlete Asal Kerimbayeva and masters of sports Anamjan Rustamova, Seyitjan Mirzayev, Bunyad Rashidov, Bektimur Reyimov, Gaygysyz Torayev, Shahzadbek Matyakubov and Davranbek Hasanbayev.

For the latter, the current training camp in the highlands is special. Davranbek Hasanbayev's task is to properly prepare for the Olympics in the capital of France this summer.

Let us remind that at the World Cup held in April in Phuket (Thailand), 23-year-old Davranbek won a gold medal in the snatch (187 kg) and showed the fifth result in the total (392 kg). This allowed him to improve his position in the world ranking by 18 points, making an extraordinary leap from 26th to 8th place. Having entered the TOP-10 best weightlifters in the weight category up to 102 kg, D. Hasanbayev won a ticket to the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games, which will be held from the 26th and of July to 11th of August, 2024 in Paris.

Bronze medalist of the 1991 Junior World Championships in the 75 kg weight category, participant of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Lin Shoufeng, as the head coach of the Turkmenistan national team, has been working with our athletes since last fall. Under his leadership, Turkmen weightlifters won a number of medals of various denominations in December 2023 at the II International Grand Prix Tournament in Doha (Qatar), in February 2024 at the Asian Championships in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and in April of this year at the World Cup in Phuket (Thailand).

At the training camp in Georgia, Chinese specialist Lin Shoufeng works with our weightlifters in tandem with the head coach of the Turkmenistan national team, Mansur Rejepov.
