The opening ceremony of the new building of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea took place in Ashgabat. The decision on the establishment of this structure was taken by the President of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on June 16.

The ceremony started with a concert performed by popular artists and dancing groups. The official part was marked with the ceremony of raising the state flags of the countries, founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea – Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan at the entrance to the office of the Executive Committee.

Those speaking during the ceremony emphasized the importance of this structure in widening and coordinating the regional environmental cooperation.

The ceremony participants got acquainted with the conditions, created for the efficient work of the central office of the Executive Committee, the main task of which is to ensure the implementation of the decisions taken by the Council of Heads of the constituent countries, the President and the Board of the Fund on the problems of the Aral Sea Basin, programmes and projects, aimed at improving environmental in the region. All necessary conditions for holding meetings, talks and seminars were created in the office facilities.
