In honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, a significant number of new books have been published both in Turkmenistan and abroad. These publications include collections of the classical poet's works in various languages, scientific and popular editions about his poetic world, humanistic ideas and the influence of his creativity. Additionally, there are works dedicated to researchers and promoters of the multifaceted creative legacy of this great son of the Turkmen people.
Among these is a recently published book by Gurbanjemal Ilyasova, the chief scientific associate of the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. Titled "ХХ asyrda Magtymguly Pyragynyň döredijiliginiň öwrenilişi," this work is dedicated to the exploration of Magtymguly's creativity during the 20th century. This book, authored by one of the country's prominent scholars who will soon celebrate her 80th birthday, was submitted for the "Türkmeniň Altyn asyry" Award of the President of Turkmenistan.
The book consists of three chapters, summarizing material on many foreign and domestic researchers of Magtymguly Fragi's poetry and analyzing new aspects of studying his poetic world. A central focus of the work is the scientific activity of one of the founders of the domestic school of Magtymguly studies—academician Baymuhammet Garryev, honored worker of science and technology, laureate of the international Magtymguly Prize. Garryev organized the collection, study, translation and popularization of the great poet and thinker's works worldwide.
G. Ilyasova's book notes that B.A. Garryev authored the first candidate and doctoral dissertations dedicated to Magtymguly's creativity, defended at Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Institute of Oriental Studies in Moscow. Out of more than 600 of Garryev's scientific works, about a hundred are related to the creativity of the Turkmen classical poet.
Another new book this year, dedicated to the invaluable contribution of academician Baymuhammet Garryev to the study of Magtymguly Fragi's creativity, is "Görnükli magtymgulyşynas," published by "Ylym." This book, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the genius poet-philosopher Magtymguly Fragi and the 110th anniversary of the scholar-researcher of his creative legacy, is a collection of B.A. Garryev's articles, supplemented with rare and valuable sources and documents from the family archive. It was published in three languages and was presented to participants of the international conference at the level of ministers of culture devoted to the 300th anniversary of the great thinker and classical poet of the East, Magtymguly Fragi, held in May in Ashgabat with delegations from Asia, Europe, representatives of the UN, TURKSOY, CIS, and other organizations.
The book highlights that B.A. Garryev's works served as a foundation for further developments by his successors, contributing to the emergence of a new direction in Turkmen science—Magtymguly studies—and the development of Turkmen philological science in general. The collection provides an insight into the multifaceted scientific research of the Turkmen scientist, highly praised by outstanding researchers of the 20th century such as V.A. Gordlevsky, E.E. Bertels, N.K. Dmitriev, A.P. Potseluyevsky, as well as renowned poet-translators G. Shengeli, A. Tarkovsky, Louis Bazin, and others. Their success and recognition were largely associated with the high-quality translations and substantive commentaries by B.A. Garryev, who guided a multilingual readership into the unique world of Magtymguly Fragi's poetry.
