Turkmen athletes secured three medals—one silver and two bronze—at the World Traditional Karate-Do Championship held in the Spanish city of Cambrils.
The competition brought together 549 athletes from 17 countries. Turkmenistan was represented by 10 athletes.
Selim Myratdurdyev achieved a triple success for our team. He won a bronze medal in individual kumite (sparring), became a silver medalist in paired en-bu (demonstration of techniques for time) with Nurgeldi Annagurbanov, and earned a bronze medal in team kumite along with Hemra Begjanov, Kemal Atayev and Eziz Zekeryaev.
Our team prepared for the World Championship under the leadership of Diyar Khojaev, Chairman of the National Federation of Traditional Karate, and Dovlet Berdiyev, head coach of the Turkmen national team. Eymur Mademinov and Guvanch Adyev represented the judging panel of Turkmenistan at the world championship.
