Neutral Turkmenistan's desire to convey to the world community the essence of its peaceful, humane and constructive foreign policy and international initiatives is expressed in a series of consistent steps to improve information support for foreign policy activities.
Since August 1 of this year, the Department of Foreign Policy Information and Digital Diplomacy has been established within the Central Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The main goal of the Department is to increase the effectiveness of foreign policy information activities through the use of modern tools and methods, public diplomacy and new information and communication means.
New initiatives and proposals to achieve this goal were discussed at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting held on Friday. Considering the role of the country's embassies abroad in disseminating information about Turkmenistan's domestic and foreign policies, it is proposed to establish the position of press attaché in diplomatic missions in some countries. This measure aims to strengthen information activities in foreign countries and give them a systematic character.
Additionally, to coordinate the work of the scientific and practical journal "Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan" with relevant foreign publications, it is proposed to conclude bilateral cooperation agreements and accredit the journal's correspondents abroad.
Measures are also being taken to more widely use digital information technologies in the context of Turkmenistan's international interactions. To scale and centralize work and developments in the digital sphere, it is proposed to create a special zone—Digital Integration—based on global practices, relying on the growing potential of Turkmen youth specializing in this field.
In the comprehensive work to strengthen information support for the country's foreign policy activities, great importance is attached to cooperation with international organizations, primarily with the UN. In this regard, it is proposed to establish interaction with the UN Department of Global Communications.
