Turkmen customs officers are studying the specifics of digitalization and optimization of customs processes

A seminar was devoted to improving the electronic data flow related to customs clearance of goods and digitalization of customs processes and organized by the Border Management Program in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) in cooperation with the USAID Trade Program in Central Asia. Employees of the Customs Procedures Automation Department of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan attended to the seminar.

The event was aimed at improving the electronic data flow related to customs clearance processes, also supporting the customs service in digitalization and automation of customs processes and electronic services to improve trade and develop a “Single Window” system.

In this context, special attention was paid to the use of electronic customs declarations, accessible IT systems and systems using artificial intelligence, the degree of their integration with other systems and with the “Single Window” system, also the degree of use of e-services in Turkmenistan.

As a result of the seminar, experts from the Customs Department of the State Revenue Service of Latvia Olga Vikaine and Marianna Asoeva provided recommendations for further development and improvement of customs declaration systems, likewise optimization of related customs processes.
