A personal exhibition of works by Mojek Charyev, People's Artist of Turkmenistan, was held at the Exhibition Center of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan to mark his 80th birthday.

Friends, colleagues, students from the State Academy of Arts and the Turkmen Art School, as well as students from the Byashim Nurali Children's Art School, showed great interest in Mojek Charyev's work, gathering at the exhibition center. The well-known singer Myrat Divanaev performed several songs from his repertoire, adding an extra festive note to the celebration.

Artist Alexander Kashirsky created a medallion featuring the jubilarian's likeness. Another distinctive detail was a display set up at the entrance to the exhibition center featuring characters from cartoons and fairy tales created by Mojek Charyev.

Mojek Charyev exhibited 115 works, impressing visitors with a variety of styles and genres. The artist presented sketches from animated films, reminding visitors that he is the creator of our country's first animated film "Bowenjik," which is why he is often called the father of Turkmen animation.

Mojek Charyev has become a part of our culture as a remarkable illustrator of Turkmen folk tales. His characters are cheerful and charming boys and girls, as well as cute fairy-tale animals. To create them in such a way, one must be a very kind person.

"Mojek Charyev is a realist in painting," says Azat Annaev, an art historian and Honored Worker of Arts, "but he can easily switch from realism to abstraction. From the works presented at the exhibition—such as 'Morning City' and 'Red Sun'—his interest in abstractionism is evident. Mojek Charyev is a versatile artist. Incidentally, he is a master of quick portraiture and enjoys attending art bazaars of folk craftsmen, where people line up to have their portraits done by him in just a few minutes."

Landscapes hold a special place in his work. When viewing Mojek's landscapes, one can almost hear the melody emanating from them—calm and measured.

Mojek Charyev is an optimist by nature, and his zest for life energizes viewers of his paintings, as evidenced by the works he has exhibited.
