A delegation of Turkmen specialists representing the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Adalat, and Civil Registry Offices is in Ankara, Turkey, from November 25 to 30, 2024.

The visit is organized with the support of the United Nations Population Fund Representation in Turkmenistan to study Turkey's advanced experience in population statistics and the digitization of civil registration processes. The visit program includes familiarization with the work of key Turkish state institutions responsible for collecting and processing demographic data. The delegation is studying advanced systems such as the Central Civil Registration System (MERNİS), the National Address Database (NAD), and the Address-Based Population Registration System (ABPRS). Special attention is given to Turkey's experience in conducting register-based population censuses, as well as the functioning of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System (CRVS).

As part of the visit, there are plans to visit the Civil Registration Office for a detailed understanding of business processes, digital tools and practices for interacting with the public. Turkmen specialists will analyze the possibilities of adapting and implementing advanced Turkish practices in Turkmenistan to improve the statistical accounting system and enhance the quality of demographic data. Overall, the visit provides a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience, discussing prospects for joint research projects, and strengthening bilateral cooperation in population statistics.
