Those who visited the branch of the museum "Magtymguly Fragi", located in the village of Gerkez in the center of the Magtymguly etrap of the Balkan velayat, left unforgettable pleasant memories and impressions.

The museum of the village of Gerkez - the birthplace of the great thinker of the East, the classical poet Magtymguly Fragi, is created as a room in which the values preserved among the population in the 3rd secondary school named after him in this village are stored. The current building of the museum was built in 1983.

The museum devotes a large space to the books of the great poet, published in different years. It is even more pleasant to see the ring made by Magtymguly for Mengli and the teapot that he brought from India for his sister Zubeyda. These values have been kept as priceless relics among the local population for many years and at different times were given to the museum as souvenirs.

The teapot brought by the poet from India for Zubeyda was donated to the museum by Nurygarry from the family of Mammetdovlet, the son of Magtymguly Fragi's nephew Gurbandurdy Zelili. And the ring made for Mengli is a gift from a resident of the etrap Gurbangeldi Bayramgeldiev.

The museum also exhibits national clothes, horse harnesses and tools that were widely used in the household in ancient times. Among the museum's values, you can also see "depbe" (a vessel used to store butter and rolled meat), "suwkadi" (a flask for transporting water over long distances), finds of various utensils found in the Parhay and Chendir valleys, a 10th-century bell found in Monjukly Depe, a clay pot used to store grain crops in the 17th-18th centuries. Of particular interest is the unique "darak" item for hand combing camel wool.
