At the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after a ceremony of awarding the winners of the scientific and creative book reading competition among students of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan was held in Dovletmammet Azadi.

In the competition, held under the name "Book – a source of knowledge", the prizes were awarded to students of seven universities.

The first place was won by the student team of the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management. The second place was awarded to the teams of students of the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages and Makhtumkuli Turkmen State University. The third place was taken by students of the Marat Garryev State Medical University of Turkmenista`n, the Institute of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Sayitnazar Seydi.

During the solemn New Year's Eve award ceremony, the winners and prize-winners of the competition were awarded with certificates of honor and gifts from the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D.Azadi.

In general, students from 15 higher educational institutions of the country took part in the competition. Each university was represented by 1 team consisting of 4 students.

The performances of the student teams were fairly evaluated by a competent jury, which included the editor of the department "Zenan kalby" magazine Ogulgozel Shagulyeva, Chief Researcher at the Institute of History and Archeology of the Academy of Sciences Kakajan Bayramov of Turkmenistan, Director of the Department of Handwritten sources of the Makhtumkuli Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Geldimyrat Mukhammedov.

The competition was held in order to develop students' interest in reading, promote reading among young people, identify and encourage talented, creatively gifted youth, as well as popularize and perpetuate the literary heritage of great writers and poets and pass it on to future generations.
