This spirit of solidarity has become a fundamental factor for successful implementation of the large-scale work on reformation of the state system, fundamental renovation of all spheres of life of society and impressive economic progress of Turkmenistan.
Along with fundamental modernization of the core industries and structures of the state life and transformation of the look of our ancient land, the most important achievements of independent Turkmenistan lay in a social area. They are reflected in improving the Turkmen people’s quality of life, increasing its wellbeing, strengthening the legal guarantees, spiritual and creative activation and liberation of people’s consciousness, release of reformatory and creative energy for realization of great goals.
The peculiarity of reforms in the modern epoch consists in that the implementation of innovative investment projects combines with the every-day work on strengthening all parts of the social security, successive democratization of society based on increasing its legal culture, respecting the ancestors’ spiritual precepts, and succession of the national experience of the people’s contribution to running the state. This multistage combination of conditions and requirements guarantees the interconnection of all phases of reforms guaranteeing an evolutional, step-by-step and harmonious movement towards the new heights of progress and prosperity.
The Elders’ Council of Turkmenistan as a forum of authoritative and wised elders offers a spiritual incentive to the political life of the country reflecting the deliberate aspiration of citizens for taking part in the fate of our Motherland.
The centuries-old democratic traditions add national peculiarity to the social and political processes taken place in our country determining the logic of the state building. Spiritual guidelines embodying the experience of our ancestors serve as a binding element in these processes.
The harmonious combination of traditions with innovations, careful succession with constructive reformation have stipulated the distinctive feature of a modern Turkmen political culture based on the high principles of democracy. In other words, historical heritage has become a resource for modernization of the country, and development of new opportunities, prospects and views is built based on the people’s historical experience, its philosophical and moral values.
It is important to understand which powerful cultural traditions traced back to the centuries have stipulated the peculiarity of the Turkmen people’s political thinking to perceive how this synthesis of ‘traditions’ and ‘modern time’ goes on.
Thus, the deep humanism, indissoluble unity of the state and a person, their mutual influence and interaction, when political system is considered as a system of organic links between people, are laid at the sources of the Turkmen statehood. The representatives of elder generations have always played a significant role in the process of harmonization of these relations that has been reflected in the basis of the state structure of modern Turkmenistan. The elders have won the authority and trust among their compatriots as people possessing profound experience, knowledge skills and wisdom, who are able to inspire and raise a society by their personal example and reveal its strong power through spiritual influence.
The Turkmen mentality is flexible and ready to apply innovations if they are useful for developing the country and society. Since ancient times, connecting the East with the West, the North and the South, Turkmenistan has made this openness a national tradition, due to which the integration of its own and introduced experience, the heritage and innovations have taken place.
