The international journal Business Central Asia, published in New Delhi (Republic of India) and distributed in the countries of the Asian region and beyond, devotes once again the largest portion of its regular issue to independent Turkmenistan that widely and solemnly celebrated the 20th anniversary of the status of neutrality. The cover page of the issue features the magnificent monument to neutrality in Ashgabat that symbolizes the inviolability of the foundations of our sovereign state, its continued commitment to the ideals of peace, kindness and humanism.

The collected materials Business Central Asia Journal focused on various events in the political, economic and cultural life of our country, its accomplishments and achievements in the epoch of might and happiness begin with the article about the new initiatives put forward by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov from the rostrum of the major global forums, including the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, held in the Japanese city of Sendai in March. As is known, our country put forward the proposal to establish the Regional Centre for Climate Change Technology for Central Asia under the auspices of the United Nations and expressed its readiness to provide the necessary infrastructure for the Centre in Ashgabat.

The journal contains the articles about the society oriented social policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that prioritizes the improvement of the welfare of the people as well as the resolute steps Turkmenistan is taking to create highly effective and competitive economy. The world’s largest financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that welcomed the economic diversification strategy of the Government of Turkmenistan that has given all basic sectors a powerful impetus to develop, make positive forecasts for the development prospects of our country that has been maintaining a high rate of economic growth all these years.

Another important theme of this issue of the popular journal is the energy policy of Turkmenistan that has enormous reserves of natural resources, particularly oil and gas. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasizes that our country intends to use its tremendous resource potential to improve the welfare of citizens as well as put it at the service of all mankind.

The real steps towards the consistent implementation of multilateral energy diplomacy of Turkmenistan include the concrete projects initiated in recent years, including the projects of the gas pipelines Turkmenistan-Iran, Turkmenistan-China and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) as well as the project of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline to Europe that is actively negotiated between Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and the European Union.

The authors note that the initiatives put forward at the highest level by Turkmenistan that is rightly recognized as one of the world’s largest energy producers and suppliers have fostered the international dialogue on various aspects of energy cooperation, promoting the development of a flexible and effective mechanism for partnership and the implementation of preventive measures to ensure global energy security in the 21st century.

By the way, Turkmenistan is seen today not only as a country of great prospects and opportunities that has the tremendous resource and economic potential, but also as a unique receptacle of historical and cultural heritage of universal value. This is evidenced by close attention that Business Central Asia Journal pays to the glorious age-old history of Turkmen carpets and Ahalteke horses that have earned international recognition and rank among the national treasures and pride of the Turkmen people. The issue of the international journal richly and colourfully illustrated with photographs and pictures tells the readers about the ancient traditions of carpet weaving and horse breeding maintained in a worthy manner in the epoch of might and happiness.
