22 medals - this is the result of the performance of Turkmen sambo wrestlers at the Asian Championship held in the Lebanese city of Jounieh.

The competition brought together 260 athletes from 16 countries who competed for the title of the strongest in sports sambo among youths (under 18), juniors (under 20) and adults, as well as in combat sambo among men and women.

Turkmen athletes excelled both in the combat version of sambo and in the sports version among young men (not older than 18), men and women, having won a total of 3 gold, 5 silver and 14 bronze medals.

Twelve of them - 1 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze - were obtained on the final day of the competition, when medals were played in sports sambo for men and women.

Guvanch Begaliev was awarded the highest standard. He achieved this success in the 98 kg weight category, defeating Nodirjon Merkhalikov from Uzbekistan in the final. And the silver went to Begench Baltaev, who lost in the final of the weight category up to 79 kg to Uzbek Umidjon Abdullaev.

In the women's tournament, Dinara Ivadullaeva and Rano Ukazova climbed to the second step of the podium. The first in the weight category up to 50 kg, in which only three athletes fought for the title of champion of Asia, lost in the final to Margarita Bazhaeva from Kazakhstan, and the second in the weight up to 72 kg lost in the final to another representative of Kazakhstan - Dildash Kuryshbayeva.

In the men's and women's sports sambo tournaments, our compatriots won four bronze medals each. They were awarded to Mukhammetmyrat Babekov (up to 58 kg), Muhammet Kosekov (up to 64 kg), Kakageldy Egenbaev (up to 71 kg), Nedir Allaberdiyev (up to 88 kg), as well as Madina Aydogdiyeva (up to 59 kg), Dinara Khallyeva (up to 65 kg). ), Faride Mammedov (up to 80 kg) and Maksud Egemberdiyev (over 80 kg).
