The silver medal in clean and jerk was won by Turkmen weightlifter Perkhat Bagtiyarov at the world championship among youths not older than 2005 that started in Leon (Mexico). This success was achieved by a student of the 9th grade of the capital's sports school "Olimp" in the weight category up to 55 kg, in which 13 athletes from 12 countries competed for awards.
Perhat, who will turn 16 on October 8, has set three youth records of Turkmenistan in the snatch, clean and jerk and total exercises in this weight class on the Mexican platform.
In the snatch P. Bagtiyarov showed the sixth result (97 kg), in the clean and jerk - the second (125 kg). As a result, our compatriot took the 4th place in the combined event (222 kg), 2 kg behind the bronze medalist Erasyl Umarov (Kazakhstan) - 224 kg (100 + 124). Silver went to Ali Majid Kalitit (Saudi Arabia) - 229 kg (105 + 124). And gold was awarded to Gurunaid Sanapati (India) - 230 kg (104 + 126).
Perhat Bagtyarov started weightlifting in Sakarchaga etrap with coach Shatlyk Durdyklychev. Currently, he is improving his skills at the Olimp sports school under the guidance of Boris Kulamov.
Ogulshat Amanova also successfully performed for her age in our team. Being one of the youngest participants in the 2022 World Championships, the 12-year-old debutant from Turkmenistan took 6th place among 12 athletes in the weight category up to 45 kg, setting three personal records - in the snatch (61 kg), clean and jerk (75 kg) and combined combined (136 kg). It is noteworthy that she is engaged in weightlifting under the guidance of her father, the coach of the School of Higher Sportsmanship and the national team of Turkmenistan among girls (under 17) Gurbandurdy Amanov.
The medals of the 2022 World Championship in Mexico are contested in 20 weight categories by 205 athletes (115 girls and 90 boys) from 39 countries.
Turkmenistan is represented at these competitions by seven weightlifters: three in the men's tournament and four in the women's.
