Turkmen weightlifter wins bronze in snatch at World Youth Championships in Mexico

The bronze medal in the snatch was won by Medina Amanova from Turkmenistan at the Youth World Weightlifting Championships held in Leon (Mexico) among athletes not older than 2005. She achieved this success in the weight category up to 59 kg, in which 14 weightlifters from 12 countries competed for awards.

In the snatch, Medina lifted 83 kg - exactly as much as the silver medalist in this exercise Dubanei Sinisterra Angulo from Colombia, and 1 kg less than Jessica Isabel Palacios Dahomes from Ecuador.

As further events on the platform showed, in order to win two more bronze medals - in the clean and jerk and the combined total - it was enough for M. Amanova to push a projectile weighing 101 kg in the second exercise. However, the coaches of our national team in the fight for gold in the first approach ordered 102 kg, in the second - 103 kg, and in the third - 105 kg. And none of the declared weights was obeyed by our athlete, who eventually completed the competition with zero marks.

16-year-old Medine is engaged in weightlifting under the guidance of her father, the coach of the School of Higher Sportsmanship and the national team of Turkmenistan among girls (under 17) Gurbandurdy Amanov.

Another representative of Turkmenistan, Gulalek Kakamyradova, who competed in the same weight category, took ninth place with a result of 165 kg (74+91).

The winner of the world championship was Dubanei Sinisterra Angulo (Colombia) - 187 kg (83 + 104). The second place was taken by Khanin Ahmed El-Said (Egypt) - 185 kg (82 + 103). And Jessica Isabel Palacios Dahomes (Ecuador) closed the top three - 183 kg (84 + 99).

At the world championship, which will end on June 18, it remains to perform in the team of Turkmenistan: in the men's tournament - Surajbek Sapayev and Saparly Muhyyev (both in the weight category up to 96 kg), and in the women's tournament - Anamjan Rustamova (up to 81 kg).
