32-year-old master of sports Eziz Dovletov was elected the new chairman of the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan (FTT). 42 delegates from all velayats of the country and the capital unanimously voted for his candidacy at the reporting and election conference held in Ashgabat, according to a press release from the FTT.
Since 2018, E. Dovletov has served as Secretary General of the FTT. Prior to that, being an athlete, in 2013, as part of the national team of Turkmenistan, he became the winner of the zonal tournament for the Davis Cup (IV group of the Asia and Oceania zone).
In 2012, Eziz Dovletov graduated from the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering, in 2015 he received an MBA from Moscow State University, and in 2021 he graduated from the Russian International Olympic University under the Master of Sports Administration program.
Since 2020, Dovletov has been a member of the international working group under the ITF President for holding the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup in the world.
The Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan was officially registered on April 14, 1992 and since then has become a strong organizer involved in the development and popularization of tennis in Turkmenistan.
To date, the total number of certified trainers in Turkmenistan is more than 40 specialists, 30 of which have an international ITF coaching certificate. The number of athletes has also increased over the years of independence and today is more than 2,000.
“Having an excellent sport infrastructure in Turkmenistan, the Federation needs to attract even more young people to tennis, to make this sport even more popular,” the new head of the TTF defined as his main task.
Among other plans of E. Dovletov is the development of beach tennis, which is gaining popularity all over the world.
