Today, on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a ceremony was held in the capital to honor athletes who won prizes at major international competitions held this month.
The arsenal of victorious performances of Turkmen athletes includes medals won at the Open European Judo Championship held in the city of Oberwart of the Austrian Republic, the International Karate-Do Competition in Berlin, the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Shotokan Karate World Championship in Pardubice (Czech Republic) and the International Tournament “Cup for the Founders of SAMBO” in SAMBO and Combat SAMBO in Moscow (Russian Federation).
Members of the Government, leaders and representatives of the Halk Maslakhaty and the Mejlis Milli Gengesh, military and law enforcement agencies, the diplomatic corps of foreign states and international organizations accredited in our country, ministries and departments, public associations, universities and mass media took part in the celebration.
The exposition includes numerous medals and cups won by domestic athletes at international competitions at various levels.
In the year of “The Era of the People with Arkadag”, our athletes participate in many significant international tournaments and return from almost all competitions with medals, including the highest ones.
An example of this is the successful performance of Turkmen athletes in the Asian Youth Weightlifting Championship in the capital of neighboring Uzbekistan, the Silk Way 2022 International Rally Raid, held in Russia, the VII International Sports Games “Children of Asia” in Vladivostok (RF) and the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in the Turkish city of Konya.
According to the established good tradition, prize-winning athletes who positively represented the Motherland on the world sports arena are honored at the state level in recognition of their huge contribution to the development of domestic sports, the steady improvement of the image of Turkmenistan as a country of health and high spirit.
Today, congratulations are received by the winners of international competitions, which took place in different countries of the world on the festive month of September for our Motherland. Thus, the athletes, with their brilliant successes, made a gift to the Turkmen people on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the independence of their beloved Motherland.
The participants listened with great attention to the welcoming address of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who addressed congratulations to the members of the national teams of Turkmenistan on their successful performance at international competitions.
In a solemn atmosphere, on behalf of the head of state Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to the thunderous applause of the assembled athletes, who won prizes, were presented with valuable gifts, as well as sets of special sports uniforms from the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care.
There was also a ceremony of presenting valuable gifts on behalf of the President of the country to athletes and coaches who took part in international competitions and won second and third prizes.
Then the winners of all international tournaments of 2022 were invited to the stage.
In honor of the heroes of sports, the National Anthem of Turkmenistan is played under the arches of the martial arts complex of the Olympic Village.
“Alkyş Size, Şöhrat Size, Arkadag! Arkadagly Serdara şöhrat!” - the participants of the event chant in unison.
Then demonstration performances were held in the following disciplines: judo, karate-do, sambo, taekwondo, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, as well as in the national wrestling goresh, along with other sports, which receives wide international recognition and is an invaluable heritage of the Turkmen people.
The celebration ended with performances by masters of arts, inspired by glorifying their native Motherland - a country of peace and high spirit.
