Turkmen tennis player Ilima Huseynova will play for the first time in the final stage of the Asian Championship under 14, which starts today in the city of Bhubaneswar (India). The pupil of the «Ashgabat» Tennis Academy will play in such significant competitions as part of the team of Central and Western Asia, to which she was selected based on the results of the regional qualifying tournament in Bahrain held in January this year.

According to the correspondent of «GA» in the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan, following the results of the qualifying championship of Central and Western Asia, Ilima Huseynova scored the required number of points and received an invitation from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to perform in the final part of the competition.

The team of Central and Western Asia also selected: Emily Kim (Uzbekistan), David Mogilevskiy (Kyrgyz Republic) and Akmal Abdullayev (Uzbekistan).

In addition to the national team of Central and Western Asia, the teams of Kazakhstan, Indonesia, India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Thailand, Vietnam, as well as the teams of South, Southeast and East Asia. Athletes will compete in singles and doubles. The championship, which will last until the 15th of April, will consist of two consecutive tournaments.

It is also noteworthy that, according to the decision of the International Tennis Federation, the head coach of the national team of Turkmenistan and the tennis academy «Ashgabat» Mirali Gasanov, who had the honour to represent all the countries of the region on behalf of our country, will lead the national team of Central and Western Asia in the final stage of the continental championship. This is a huge achievement in the history of tennis in Turkmenistan, which is a good example of the successful work of the National Tennis Federation together with the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports in the field of sports diplomacy!
