Robots come to school

The other day, a two-day training seminar was held at the Yyldyz hotel in the capital, organized by the OSCE Center in Turkmenistan with the assistance of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. One of the central issues discussed by specialists at the Round Table was the problem of further development of information literacy of the population. In this context, journalists and scientists noted the importance of instilling the necessary skills to work with information networks and technological innovations from the earliest school age.

As a primary task of introducing schoolchildren to the correct use of information resources and relevant technologies, experts noted the need to prepare special teaching aids and qualified personnel for such work. Among other things, attention was drawn to the fact that it is important for children to instill love and a culture of handling technological innovations of various kinds.

The seminar also spoke about the importance of involving public organizations, activists and enthusiasts in the field of work with information and technological innovations in this educational work. In the process of discussing specific tasks, the participants of the Round Table were interested in how effective it would be to involve enthusiasts in the process of developing information technology literacy. So the other day, as if answering such questions of specialists, enthusiasts from the Ashgabat Educational Robotics Center "Imdatbot" demonstrated by their example the indisputable importance of such work with schoolchildren.

Employees of the company held an unusual lesson in Ashgabat secondary school No. 60, which did not leave any of the students indifferent. Senior teacher of the Imdatbot Center A.V. Mommaeva together with the teacher of school No. 60 Z.A. Gylychmedova held a lesson with the students of the school on the topic "The latest technologies in the modern school." The teachers combined the information-theoretical part of the lesson with introducing teenagers to innovations in the field of modern robots. For example, schoolchildren got acquainted with the design and programming of Codey Rockey and mBot robots.

At the lesson, the guys were able not only to see robots, but also to control them, which caused them a storm of joyful emotions.

A special exhibition was arranged in the foyer of the school for this event.

There is no doubt that such events, along with the development of the subject "informatics", will best contribute to the development of information literacy of schoolchildren. And this, in turn, will lead to an increase in the general educational level of the population.
