Young chemists of Turkmenistan will take part in the 57th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad for schoolchildren (MMO-57), which will be held in Astana from the 30th of April 30 to 7th of May.
Schoolchildren of Turkmenistan will compete with their peers from more than two dozen countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America, which this year will be represented by the Brazilian team for the first time.
Nazar Mammedov, a chemistry teacher at the specialized boarding school named after Saparmyrat Turkmenbashy in Ashgabat, has been preparing Turkmen schoolchildren for this Olympiad for several years now. Under his experienced mentorship, young chemists of Turkmenistan regularly become winners of major international competitions. And this year, he will lead the country's team, which includes 11th grade students of the specialized boarding school named after Saparmyrat Turkmenbashy Yakup Annaorazov, Begzada Annayev, Yhlas Jumayev and tenth grader Aygul Atajanova.
According to Nazar Mammedov, Turkmen schoolchildren have been participating in the International Mendeleev Olympiad since 1998 and have been awarded medals of various denominations more than once. Great success is also expected from the participants of this year's Olympiad. After the competition in Astana, it is planned that Turkmen schoolchildren will also take part in the most prestigious Chemistry Olympiad - the 55th International Chemistry Olympiad (55th-IChO), which will be held in the second half of July in Switzerland. Schoolchildren of the country regularly participate in this Olympiad and win a number of prizes.
