Turkmen-Chinese relations are built on a solid foundation of friendship, trust and mutual understanding. The strategic partnership between the two countries is being successfully and fruitfully pursued in various areas, acquiring new formats for comprehensive development. Due to the high degree of interaction and mutual interest in strengthening bilateral relations, Turkmenistan and China express their readiness to continue and step up efforts to deepen the partnership.
A wide range of issues of Turkmen-Chinese relations, multifaceted cooperation, as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest were discussed during the talks between President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, held as part of the state visit of the head of Turkmenistan to China in January this of the year.
The parties jointly highly appreciated the results of cooperation between the two countries in various fields over the 31 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The current relations between Turkmenistan and China are broad and have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership. Bilateral relations cover all major areas - politics, economy, trade, culture. Active interaction is carried out in the educational, scientific and technical fields.
Close ties and contacts have been established between higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan and China. Fruitful work is being done to promote joint scientific and educational projects, support in providing educational equipment, organizing training for specialized specialists in universities, holding seminars, trainings, conferences, joint working meetings, etc.
For example, one of the landmark meetings last month took place at the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev, where they discussed the creation of the Lu Ban Workshop on the basis of the university.
The initiative to promote the «Lu Ban Workshop» project in Turkmenistan was voiced in the Joint Statement signed by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of China Xi Jinping following the talks in Beijing in January this year.
The meeting at the Turkmen university was held with the participation of members of the leadership, faculty of the university and representatives of the China National Oil and Gas Corporation «International Ltd» in Turkmenistan, as well as Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University and Xi'an Petroleum University.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to form a Turkmen-Chinese working group to create a «Lu Ban workshop» at the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev and conclude an appropriate Memorandum of Understanding.
The participants of the event expressed their confidence that the opening of «Lu Ban's Workshop» at the oil and gas university would greatly contribute to the formation of high-level specialists, engineers, and technologists.
It should be noted that Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly also maintains successful cooperation with Xinjiang University, one of the leading universities in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China.
Within the framework of the Turkmen-Chinese cooperation in the field of culture, education, science and other areas, it is planned to intensify work, in particular, on the creation of a Turkmen cultural center in China and a Chinese cultural center in Turkmenistan, further promotion of the joint implementation of the «Lu Ban Workshop» project, and also holding Cross Years of Culture in 2023 and 2024.
