The results of the competition on the topic «Environmental Protection and Ecological Culture» held among students of grades 10-11 of secondary schools of Turkmenistan by the Scientific and Methodological Centre for Sustainable Development Goals of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country on the occasion of World Environment Day have been summed up.
According to the results of the competition, 6 winners and 39 prize-winners were determined.
The winners included schoolchildren from the capital and all five velayats of the country. So, the first places were won by Sahydovlet Hummetjumayev (specialized boarding school named after S. Turkmenbashy in Ashgabat), Kerim Kakageldiyev (specialized school №20, Balkanabat, Balkan velayat), Vepa Begliyev (specialized school №43 with in-depth study of natural sciences, Yoloten etrap, Mary velayat), Merjen Begenjova (secondary school №11, Turkmenabat, Lebap velayat) and Mingul Orayeva (secondary school №45, Shavat etrap, Dashoguz velayat).
Other schoolchildren from the capital and regions of the country also successfully performed at the competition site, receiving 15 second and 24 third places.
The winners and prize-winners of the competition were awarded with Diplomas of I, II and III degrees and memorable gifts from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the UN Office in Turkmenistan.
The competition was held in order to attract the attention of the younger generation to environmental protection issues, universal tasks in this area, which are among the most important areas of international activity, in which Turkmenistan is an active participant.
Raising a responsible and caring attitude to the world around us, raising schoolchildren's awareness of environmental culture and environmental challenges, as well as involving young people in their joint solution are also among the main goals of the competition set by the organizers.
