A scientific and practical meeting dedicated to the topic of pistachio cultivation was held at the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Nyyazov.
The event was attended by teachers and students of the university, representatives of other metropolitan universities interested in the topic, specialized specialists, domestic entrepreneurs.
During the meeting, an exchange of experience in growing pistachio trees in the natural and climatic conditions of the country's regions and the possibility of obtaining rich harvests took place.
Member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, expert of the economic society «Altyn jüýje» Yagmyr Jumalyyev spoke at the meeting. As noted, pistachio trees are perfectly adapted to a hot, dry climate, thanks to a fairly developed root system. The roots of the plant go deep into the soil and reach a depth of up to 30 meters, successfully penetrating to moisture. At the same time, the height of pistachio trees in our country varies from 5 to 7 meters. Pistachio is well adapted to local climatic conditions and is common in Turkmenistan.
It was emphasized that the pistachio tree is a long-liver, its age can reach 900 years. Pistachio originated in our sunny country, in the Batkhyz Highlands, and then spread to other countries.
In continuation of the topic, the participants exchanged views on the cultivation and harvesting of pistachios in mountainous and desert areas. In this context, the importance of studying the state of the soil on a scientific basis was noted. They talked about ways to increase the fertility of trees and the possibility of obtaining up to 16-20 kg of yield from each well-formed pistachio tree under cultural conditions. The experts also discussed methods of plant propagation, rules and conditions of care, use of fertilizers.
Such meetings on various topics with the participation of a wide range of specialized specialists and students are held at the country's agricultural university on a regular basis. During the meetings, participants share valuable experience, discuss the best world practices and achievements of modern science, methods and ways of introducing innovations in agricultural production.
As domestic agricultural producers emphasized, every effort is being made to develop the country's agriculture, the necessary measures are being taken with the main goal of providing the population with sufficient volumes of high-quality food in all seasons of the year.
