Turkmen weightlifters won four silver and one bronze medals at the Central Asian Open Championship among athletes under 17 years old, which ended in the Uzbek city of Chirchik.

51 athletes from 8 countries competed for the award of the championship. Turkmenistan was represented by 6 athletes: 3 boys and 3 girls.

Shabnam Kerimbaeva, a 8th grade student of the 100th secondary school of the Akdepa etrap, Dashoguz velayat, was awarded silver medal in the weight category up to 45 kg, in which four weightlifters competed. Her result was 117 kg (snatch - 54 kg, clean and jerk - 63 kg).

Didarbek Jumabaev, a 9th grade student of sports school "Olimp", achieved the same success in weight up to 67 kg, in which three athletes contested the awards. In the sum of two combat, he collected 230 kg (snatch - 103 kg, clean and jerk - 127 kg).

The second step of the podium was also taken by Mehriban Tachmyradova, a 10th grade student of the 1st secondary school of Sakarchage etrap, Mary velayat. She put 125 kg in the sum of two exercises (snatch 60 kg, clean and jerk 65 kg) in the 71 kg weight category, in which three athletes were competing for medals.

Galkan Rakhmanov, a 10th grade student of the 27th secondary school of the Sakarchage etrap, Mary velayat, won another silver medal for the team of Turkmenistan. He achieved this success in the weight category up to 81 kg in a dispute with two athletes from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, gaining 265 kg in two exercises (snatch – 120 kg, clean and jerk – 145 kg).

Mayagozel Khurmenova, a 9th grader from Balkanabat secondary school, Balkan velayat, won bronze in our team. Her result was 120 kg (snatch - 55 kg, clean and jerk - 65 kg) in the weight category up to 55 kg, in which three athletes were competing for medals.
