The first TESOL conference for English teachers is taking place in Ashgabat

The International University of Humanities and Development of the Turkmen capital is hosting the New Language Learning Technologies and Innovations in Education conference, first organized in Turkmenistan under the auspices of the International TESOL Association with the support of the US Embassy in Ashgabat and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

The opening ceremony of the conference took place at the Turkmen university on the 8th of January with the participation of US Ambassador to Turkmenistan Matthew Klimow, representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, and the National Institute of Education.

250 English language teachers from secondary schools, higher educational institutions, private language centers in the capital and velayats of Turkmenistan take part in the forum. 6 American experts - specialists in the field of linguistics - arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the conference and meet with Turkmen teachers.

The program of the multi-format forum includes plenary sessions, interactive sessions, thematic speeches, as well as presentations and master classes on advanced methods of teaching English.

On the sidelines of the conference, participants will jointly discuss innovative approaches to learning and teaching English, the latest methods and practices in this area, and exchange professional experience and knowledge.

It should be noted that the International TESOL Association has been the leading professional community of experts, teachers, researchers, and administrators for more than half a century, constantly striving for excellence in teaching English to speakers of other languages around the world.

The abbreviation TESOL stands for «Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages». TESOL is the globally accepted standard for teaching English and is an intensive training program that allows you to qualify to work as an English teacher or trainer anywhere in the world. The program involves mastering methods of teaching various types of speech activities (listening, reading, speaking, writing), developing grammatical and lexical skills, pronunciation, as well as the basics of teaching English to foreigners.

The first TESOL forum in the Turkmen capital will be held for five days and will end on the 12th of January.
