The delegation of Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Alexander Amanov, took part in events held in the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation in honor of the 300th anniversary of the great poet and philosopher of the East Magtymguly Fragi.
After the completion of the flower-laying ceremony in the Brotherhood Garden at the Eternal Flame of Glory memorial, members of the delegation, which included cultural figures and schoolchildren from Ashgabat, went to the village of Funtovo, Privolzhsky district. At the local school named after Magtymguly Fragi, the festive events dedicated to the memorable date opened with a gala concert.
Maria Shalak, Minister of Education and Science of the region, greeted those gathered. She noted that the legacy of the great poet plays an important role in strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the Astrakhan region and Turkmenistan. Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Alexander Amanov emphasized in his speech the invaluable contribution of Magtymguly Fragi to the development of Turkmen literature and culture. As it was noted, the poet’s works are included in the treasury of world literature and the name of Magtymguly Fragi is known in many countries of the world.
At the opening ceremony of the museum of the school named after Magtymguly Fragi, guests from Turkmenistan donated valuable exhibits - paintings and jewellery. The head of the school museum, history, social studies and local history teacher Alfiya Muhtarova spoke about the special value of the exhibition dedicated to fellow villagers who participated in the Great Patriotic War.
Members of the Turkmen delegation visited an exhibition of drawings dedicated to the anniversary of the Turkmen classical poet, in which schoolchildren from grades 1 to 9 participated. In connection with this year’s motto, a creative essay competition was also held in Turkmenistan on the topic «The Fount of the Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi».
