The Exhibition Center of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan hosts an exhibition of paintings and graphic works by the artist Hojamuhammet Churiev, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi.
When getting acquainted with the paintings presented at the exhibition, it seemed that in 2023 Hojamuhammet Churiev took a book of Magtymguly's poems and did not part with it. As a result, 55 beautiful paintings inspired by Magtymguly's poems were created. The organizers of the exhibition placed the text of the poem that inspired the artist next to each painting.
Notably, 23 works are graphic. Like the paintings, the graphic works are beautifully executed and serve as sketches for the paintings.
Berdiguly Amansahatov, among artist and art critics, spoke at the solemn opening of the exhibition, noting that Magtymguly is a universe that cannot be fully described, but only begun to be told. This is exactly what Hojamuhammet Churiev has done.
Churiev works in a metaphorical style, using a bright palette of colors. Each of his works is a firework of thoughts, colors, storylines and fantasies. The characters of Magtymguly's poems come to life surrounded by heavenly birds and fierce predatory animals. With the help of lateral vision, Magtymguly examines many objects, looking for an answer to the poem "Who are you?". Each of Hojamuhammet's paintings is an emotional drama encoded with an abundance of symbols. One can understand what the author wanted to say if one stands by the painting for enough time, and at the same time re-reads the poem by Magtymguly next to it.
The State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan presented Hojamuhammet Churiyev with a gift – a framed blank canvas with an attached set of brushes and tubes of paints. The gift was presented to the artist to continue working in the chosen direction, which was highly appreciated by professionals and art lovers.
