The Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater held with great success the premiere of the play "Moment" on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the great thinker and poet Magtymguly Fragi. The young director Mekan Jumabaev, who is also the playwright and musical designer of the play, told the audience about Magtymguly through the language of metaphysics. The poet often referred to prophetic dreams in his poems. Mekan built the action of the performance around the moments between the poet's dream and reality, which is why the play is titled "Moment."

The performance contains many episodes imbued with metaphysics, which are not always fully comprehensible to an uninitiated viewer, but they are interesting and beautiful.

The music is well-chosen, relying more on sound than melody. This sound emphasizes the tension of the moment. The musical accompaniment is performed live by the theater's orchestra musicians.

Magtymguly dreamed of an ideal society free from numerous human vices. Behind the black curtain, there are shadows of people who are mired in envy, fights and drunkenness. Under the influence of Magtymguly's poetry, society is purified of them.

In the play, one symbol is replaced by another. The white ball that appeared at the beginning of the play constantly increases in size – these are the years of Magtymguly’s life, showing his growth and maturity. The ball, like a snowball, accumulates the course of thoughts and the life's burden of adversities. One of the most impressive scenes is Magtymguly's passage along the parapet of the orchestra pit. In the spotlight, Magtymguly walked as if through the air, and every viewer perceived him as a saint.

"For me, Magtymguly is a figure who appeared in the Turkmen nation for a reason," says Mekan Ovezovich. "He is the key to the formation of the Turkmen mentality."

Mekan Jumabaev is a young man from Darganata, a student of the Pushkin State Russian Drama Theater, who was admitted to the Moscow University of Culture through a quota system and pursued his master's degree at the Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts. Mekan Ovezovich is a director of a new formation. He showed himself brilliantly in the production of "Don't Part with Your Loved Ones" at the Main Academic Theater. One of the distinctive features of his works is that the props on stage participate in the action on par with the characters. Now the audience applauds him for the production of the play "Moment."

We wholeheartedly congratulate the young talented director, who has established an excellent reputation, and wish him new creative successes in his professional activity, which, it seems to us, will continue to delight us.
