Planting of winter garlic has begun in Dashoguz velayat. 780 hectares have been allocated for the crop.
More garlic than others has been planted in Akdepe etrap, where farmers intend to grow and harvest 1,680 tons of the crop with an average yield of 80 centnres per hectare, as well as in Boldumsaz etrap and S. Turkmenbashy etrap, where they plan to harvest 1,200 tons of garlic each.
Although winter garlic has been grown in large quantities in the velayat relatively recently, local farmers have already accumulated sufficient experience in its cultivation. This is facilitated by the active use of recommendations from domestic scientific experts, timely and high-quality implementation of agricultural measures. According to experts, garlic has good prospects for consistent mass production in local weather and climatic conditions.
This, in turn, will contribute to the successful solution of the tasks set by the state before the domestic agro-industrial complex to significantly increase the volume of agricultural products produced, including by increasing the yield of fertile lands, rational use of land and water resources and saturating the consumer market with early diverse vitamin products.
