Turkmen-British Cooperation on Human Rights Discussed

On September 9, 2024, a meeting took place between Yazdursun Gurbannazarova, Ombudsperson of Turkmenistan, and Sarah Cooper, Regional Development Director of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom, who visited Turkmenistan to participate in the international investment forum "TIF-2024."

The meeting addressed human rights issues in the context of cooperation between the two countries in areas such as sustainable economic development and economic diversification, climate change and environmental protection, transition to "green" technologies, and education.

Ms. Sarah Cooper emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with foreign national institutions in the field of human rights protection, as well as enhancing and strengthening the competence and capacity of relevant national institutions. The meeting specifically touched upon issues of ensuring gender equality and inclusive social services. In conclusion, both parties expressed their readiness to further develop bilateral cooperation in the protection and promotion of human rights.
