Turkmen and Japanese customs officials exchange experiences in implementing the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program

An online training session was held at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan to study Japan's experience in implementing the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program.

Specialists from the Customs and Tariff Bureau of Ministry of Finance of Japan acquainted their Turkmen colleagues with the specifics of implementing the AEO program. The Authorized Economic Operator Program is an internationally recognized standard of partnership programs. Authorized Economic Operator is an entity in international trade that is granted simplifications in customs operations and control as long as they meet certain requirements. They operate in accordance with World Customs Organization standards and principles that ensure the security of supply chains.

The seminar provided a platform for discussing possible cooperation between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs and Tariff Bureau of Japan's Ministry of Finance in the area of AEOs, including participation in mutual recognition agreements. The Japanese side expressed its willingness to share experiences in other areas of customs affairs as well.
