At the East Kazakhstan Technical University named after Daulet Serikbayev held an International Conference "Engineering Education: Challenges, Trends, Best Practices (EE: CTBP)".
The event brought together representatives of the field of science and education, partners of the Kazakh university from different countries for discussion of achievements and prospects of higher engineering education and strengthening connections in the academic space with the aim of improving teaching methods of engineering and technological disciplines in universities. Particular attention was paid application of CDIO standards in educational programs, and also issues of artificial intelligence and sustainable development.
During the conference, well-known scientists, professors, rectors, teachers of specialized universities in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, USA and Great Britain.
Turkmenistan was represented on the sidelines of the conference by senior Lecturer at the Department of Nanotechnology and Materials Science Engineering and Technology University named after Oguz Khan Mukam Ekaev. In his speech at the plenary session of the forum, he covered in detail the topic of development and improvement of engineering education in Turkmenistan, implementation of innovative educational programs and methods of teaching and learning according to the CDIO model and measures taken to train high-quality engineering personnel level.
The meeting participants discussed issues of transformation of engineering education for industrial development, training of engineering technical personnel, promoting international initiatives for improving the quality of engineering education, certification engineering personnel and modern educational technologies.
The conference program included master classes on strategic qualifications, project management, engineering design and technologies of sustainable education, as well as methodology engineering education and the application of CDIO standards to practice.
Educational information was organized for the conference participants excursion to the centers and laboratories of the Kazakhstan University.
CDIO is a worldwide network of cooperation in the field of innovation engineering education, which unites more than 200 universities 35 countries of the world. CDIO Initiative (Conceive - Design - Implement - Operate) is an educational program based which is the basis for students to master the engineering specialty in accordance with the “Plan – Design –” model Produce – Apply” real systems, processes and products on the international market.
University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan named after Oguz Khan became the first university in Central Asia that was admitted as a full member of CDIO in March 2023. The Turkmen university demonstrates its commitment to excellence in academic and scientific fields, taking active participation in various scientific, practical and educational events, both in the country and abroad.
Strengthening cooperation within CDIO is the main goal of the visit Turkmen delegation to Kazakhstan.
