On October 23, the XXIX International Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2024" (OGT-2024) commenced in Ashgabat at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. The major industry forum is organized by the country's leading state concerns: "Türkmengaz," "Türkmennebit" and "Türkmengeologiýa." The exhibition gathered a wide range of participants, including government representatives, international organizations, diplomatic missions, leading oil and gas companies.
The opening of the event was accompanied by creative groups performing national dances and songs, which highlighted the cultural aspect of the forum. The key moment of the ceremony was the welcoming address by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. He noted that the forum is an important platform for showcasing strategies for developing the fuel and energy complex, with a special emphasis on implementing advanced technologies and ensuring environmental safety.
The conference program included discussions on current issues in the global oil and gas industry, such as energy transition, environmental aspects of hydrocarbon extraction and new export routes. An important presentation was made by Zhang Daowei, Vice President of CNPC. In his speech, he emphasized that despite the rapid growth of renewable energy sources, oil and gas will remain key components of global energy consumption, accounting for more than 50% until 2050. According to him, the global energy transformation driven by climate change opens new opportunities for international cooperation. Turkmenistan plays a key role in this process due to its rich natural gas resources. The volume of gas trade between China and Turkmenistan is only increasing, and cooperation will continue to deepen, especially in the field of green energy and low-carbon technologies.
In addition, Lyubov Ivleva, Deputy Director for Strategic Development at INVI TECHNOLOGIES LLP, spoke at the forum. In her speech, she noted the necessity of implementing innovative technologies in Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry to accelerate its development and enhance environmental safety. INVI TECHNOLOGIES provides solutions for monitoring main pipelines using fiber-optic technologies, allowing for accurate and timely detection of leaks and damages. The company also develops anti-corrosion protection systems and supplies equipment for the oil and gas industry. The speaker expressed confidence in further successful cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Thus, the "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2024" exhibition became an important platform for discussing global trends and new opportunities in the energy sector, as well as strengthening international cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
