«Hemsaýa», an almond producer in Turkmenistan, has received the international GLOBALG.AP certification. «Hemsaýa», owned by the «Miwe» Open Joint Stock Company, is the largest almond farm in Turkmenistan.
It is located in the Ahal velayat of Turkmenistan and provides jobs for more than 70 local residents. The first certification audit was conducted in accordance with the requirements of the GLOBALG.AP Integrated standard Farm Assurance (IFA) version 6.0 Smart. It covered the entire production cycle, from almond cultivation to post-harvest activities in the production complex, including cleaning, sorting, packaging, storage and transportation of the crop.
As part of the audit, USAID’s Central Asia Trade Program provided internships for 11 young professionals who plan to become GLOBALG.AP certification consultants and auditors. Once qualified, these professionals will be a valuable resource for developing local expertise. Obtaining certification opens up new opportunities for «Hemsaýa» to trade directly with leading global food retailers that have strict requirements for the safety and quality of their suppliers’ products.
In May 2024, «Hemsaýa», along with eight leading agricultural producers of Turkmenistan, participated in the international exhibition Macfrut 2024 in Rimini, Italy under the national stand “Made in Turkmenistan”. At the exhibition, «Hemsaýa» presented its products to customers from all over the world, establishing new export ties with potential foreign partners.
