Six years ago, in April, construction of the city of state significance Arkadag took place. Looking at the current cluster of snow-white high-rise buildings in the foothills of Kopetdag, it is hard to believe that the blooming oasis, an example of environmental friendliness and housing comfort, has come such a short way from the beginning of its inception.
The hallmark of the new remarkable administrative unit on the map of the country is its innovative infrastructure: "smart" traffic lights that adapt to urban traffic, help pedestrians comply with traffic rules, high-tech parking lots that notify motorists about vacant spaces, household innovations in residential high-rise buildings and much more. More than twenty certificates attest to the uniqueness of the life support technologies used within the urban space of the first Turkmen smart city, where technology, comfort and the cozy beauty of architecture are features of the daily routine and homeliness of its inhabitants.
Another similar certificate was received this year from Hangzhou Dianzi University of the People's Republic of China: The certificate of Excellence was awarded to the Arkadag city as an outstanding, environmentally clean city. The infrastructure meets the high quality standards of construction work, landscaping of the surrounding area, including the emphasized respect for the environmental protection sector, provides optimal comfort and convenience to residents. The city is undoubtedly designed to become the space of high culture, taking into account all the world standards of modern megacities, both advanced world practices and requests, the needs of all segments of the population.
On the roads, innovative electric buses run along four routes silently and smokeless, just like electric taxis. The abundance of trees, the calm atmosphere, the courtesy of drivers and the kindness of rare pedestrians, the clean, almost mountain air are soothing. By the way, a certain silence of the streets, a lot of greenery attract birds, their cheerful chirping, especially nightingales, which do not stay with us for long in early spring, fill the city parks of Ashgabat with trills and songs, clearly listen in the Arkadag city. From one of the outskirts, you can often see mares and foals grazing peacefully in the pasture. The walking of teenage horses for fresh feed is arranged from the territory of the infrastructure of the international Akhalteke equestrian complex, which is close to the city.
The thirty-year program of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan for the period up to 2052 includes a development concept for the city of Arkadag, according to which agricultural production and agriculture in general are planned to be developed to the level of a self-sufficient structure that will provide the city of national importance with all types of its own production of high quality and environmental friendliness.
The innovative city has its own environmental standards for agricultural production nearby: the garden areas are kept clean, well–groomed, and are not used to the detriment of nature. This place is also one of the historical oases, where the traditions of cultivating and irrigating arable land originate, and the cradle of cultural heritage is located. Those who have visited the new "smart" city note that the city is bright, spacious, there is a lot of air and sun. There are forest belts from fifty to a hundred meters wide and even more between the roads and structures. In addition to the usual deciduous and coniferous species, the plantings include special broad-leaved species that actively generate oxygen. The city, where thousands of people and their families moved to live and work after the completion of the first stage of development, serves as an example in terms of not only advanced architectural solutions, but also environmental safety and caring for people, with modern medical centers, schools, and excellent centers of interest for the younger generation.
