Russian President Vladimir Putin praised role of Turkmenistan in ensuring global and regional security while speaking at the International forum for peace and Trust in Ashgabat.
The Russian leader emphasised that Turkmenistan is pursuing a balanced foreign policy and is making a significant contribution to strengthening regional and international stability.
As President Vladimir Putin specifically noted, choice of the country in favour of permanent neutrality defined strategic vector of Turkmenistan as an independent and sovereign state.
«The Turkmen state enjoys well-deserved respect and authority both in the Central Asian region and throughout the world. Building on its rich historical and cultural heritage, Turkmenistan is growing dynamically and achieving progress in all sectors of the national economy and social sphere», – the Russian President stated.
The Russian leader reminded that on the 12th of December, three decades ago, the UN General Assembly officially recognised status of Turkmenistan as a neutral state. This day is celebrated in Turkmenistan as a public holiday, and it was declared by the UN as the International day of neutrality.
The President of the Russian Federation congratulated the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the entire Turkmen people on this significant event.
