As part of the foreign drama Week, the State drama theatre named after Kemine of Mary velayat premiered the play «Söýginiň ýolunda» («On the path of love»).

The dramatization, directed by Ata Gullarov and based on the work of the French writer Prosper Mérimée «African love», is an example of a modern approach to reading classical literature.
The production stands out for its depth and emotional intensity, largely achieved through original set design and meticulously crafted staging. Audiences are immersed in the atmosphere of an Eastern country, where, under a starry sky and among gardens adorned with exotic plants, intense passions flare and fateful decisions are made.

The plot centres on the clash of interests between two temperamental characters. Haji Numan (K. Khanjayev) worries about his friend Zeyn (M. Bekmyradov) and lends him money. However, this leads to a disagreement over their feelings and honour. Unable to find common ground and understand each other, they lose their long-standing friendship. Ultimately, a chain of events unfolding against the backdrop of this conflict leads to tragic consequences.
This interpretation of the work of Prosper Mérimée allowed audiences to take a fresh look at this timeless story. This performance is not only about love, friendship, and betrayal. It also prompts reflection on the nature of morality, which is often tested by strong emotions and social stereotypes.

The premiere, timed to coincide with International neutrality day and the 30th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan, demonstrated the enduring interest of Turkmen public in world drama and emphasised the importance of cultural dialogue and expanding the horizons of national theatre.
