Cultural calendar of Ashgabat includes a book fair, an intellectual tournament, and theatrical performances

In the lead-up to the holiday of New Year, the Turkmen capital is hosting numerous events that create a magical atmosphere. Every day, the «Berkarar» and «Arkaç» shopping and entertainment centres host craft fairs where you can buy beautiful Christmas tree decorations, unique toys, and holiday gifts. There are also a number of cultural events planned this week to help residents and visitors of the city get into the spirit of New Year.

On the 20^th of December, from 15:00 to 19:00, the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan will host a Christmas book fair. The event will bring together most of bookstores of Ashgabat, offering a wide selection of literature and holiday souvenirs.

Guests will enjoy a festive atmosphere, refreshments, and traditional European Christmas music. There will be a Book Swap Corner, a station for writing letters to Santa, and creative workshops for children. Participants are welcome to bring their own book for the exchange. Admission is free.

On the 21^st of December, the Delegation of the European Union will host the Winter Cup 2025 intellectual competition. The competition consists of two rounds of 12 questions each. The top two teams will advance to the final, while the remaining teams will continue to compete for the top spots.

On the 20^th and 21^st of December at 19:00, the State symphony orchestra, conducted by Rasul Klychev, will perform a concert at the Palace of mukams of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan. The program will feature world classical masterpieces that will evoke a spirit of New Year and offer a truly enjoyable musical experience.
