The 33rd Turkmenistan football championship among premier league clubs concluded with three matches of the 28th round in Ashgabat and Turkmenbashy.
Two meetings took place in the capital.
At the football arena of the multifunctional stadium «Ashgabat», the participant of the AFC-2 champions League «Ahal» hosted the team «Ashgabat». This was the fourth match between these rivals this season. While «Ahal» won the first two matches decisively – 4-1 and 4-0 – «Ashgabat» drew 1-1 in the third round, and snatched a 2-1 victory in the fourth. Pirmyrat Sultanov scored twice for the winners (39th and 79th minutes). Only goal of «Ahal» was scored by Alibek Abdurahmanov (73rd).
The match in the Buzmeyin etrap of the capital, where «Altyn Asyr» and «Merv» met, also turned out to be a tough one. As the game progressed, the Mary team was winning 2:1. However, at the end of the match, team of Yazguly Hojageldiyev turned the tide and achieved a comeback victory – 3:2. The goals of the winners were scored by Selim Nurmyradov (22nd minute), Rahman Myratberdiyev (79th) and Zafar Babajanov (87th), while the goals of the losers were scored by Shohrat Ovmadov (26th) and Mukam Nazzyyev (48th).
In another match of the 28th round, «Shagadam» of Turkmenbashy won a convincing victory at home against «Kopetdag» of Ashgabat- 4:1. The goals of the hosts were scored by Yhlas Magtymov (41st minute – penalty), Ionel Kosofana (61st), Mekan Ashyrov (64th) and Azizbek Bekchanov (76th). Emir Berdiyev (80th minute – penalty) scored a consolation goal for «Kopetdag».
8 teams competed for medals in the national championship in a four-round robin tournament. Three clubs – «Altyn Asyr», «Ashgabat», and «Kopetdag» – represented the capital. «Nebitchi» from Balkanabat and «Shagadam» from Turkmenbashy represented the Balkan velayat, «Ahal» represented the Ahal velayat, «Merv» represented the Mary velayat, and «Arkadag» represented the city of the same name.
After 28 games, «Arkadag» earned 84 points and became Turkmenistan champions for the third consecutive time. Vladimir Bayramov, head coach, led the team from the «smart» city to this success. Silver medals went to «Ahal» (55 points), and bronze to «Altyn Asyr» (53 points).
«Shagadam» from Turkmenbashy took fourth place with 43 points, while «Nebitchi» from Balkanabat took fifth with 33 points. «Ashgabat» finished sixth with 24 points, and «Kopetdag» seventh with 14 points. «Merv» rounded out the standings with 12 points.
«Arkadag» forward Didar Durdyyev, 32, was the top scorer in the Turkmenistan championship for the third year in a row, with 27 goals. In second and third place respectively are his teammates Begench Akmammedov (17 – 1 from a penalty) and Altymyrat Annadurdyyev (16 – 1 from a penalty).
