The regional stage of the “Woman of the Year” competition, announced by the Central Council of the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan, was held at the “Bagt köşgi” Celebration Center in the city of Turkmenabat. The event was organized with the aim of enhancing the activity and prestige of women who occupy a special place in the cohesive society of our independent and neutral Motherland in the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state.

About 60 participants, who had won preliminary rounds in the cities and etraps of the region, presented their achievements at the velayat stage. The competition is aimed at identifying the creative potential of women, supporting their initiatives, and promoting original national values that ensure family well-being and social unity.

The significance of the competition was underscored by the inclusion in its program of such important criteria as women’s contribution to state development and the preservation of national heritage in applied and jewelry arts. Special attention was paid to the role of women serving in the military and law enforcement agencies in the patriotic education of youth, as well as to women’s participation in the socio-cultural development of villages, the improvement of agriculture, and their success in entrepreneurial activities. An important aspect was also the promotion of the traditional school of mentorship.

The thorough preparation of the participants confirmed their status as true masters of their craft. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by vibrant performances by regional dance groups and distinctive presentations by the women’s folklore ensemble “Çapak” from the Sayat etrap.

In accordance with the competition regulations, the winners in the respective categories were announced as follows: Gulyalek Sakhatova, a teacher at Secondary School No. 12 of the Sayat etrap; Gulshat Sadykova, head of a club at the House of Creativity for Children and Youth of the Hojambaz etrap; Jennet Akmyradova, choreographer at the House of Culture of the Dovletli etrap; Gulyalek Gubakova, a kindergarten teacher at Kindergarten No. 10 of the Halach etrap; Maral Jumageldiyeva, a servicewoman from Turkmenabat; Narjemal Haitova, a tenant farmer from the Farap etrap; Annagozel Jumageldiyeva, an entrepreneur from the Halach etrap; and Annagul Penjiyeva, a tenant of the Osman Sohbetov Dayhan Association in the Kerki etrap.

The winners of the competition, which was held in an atmosphere of great enthusiasm, were presented with valuable gifts and Certificates of Honor from the Central Council of the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan. They also earned the right to participate in the final stage of the competition, which will take place in Ashgabat and will be dedicated to International Women’s Day.
