During his visit to the United States, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave an interview to the host of the popular «Al-Arabiya» TV channel Rizwan Khan. One of the topics of the conversation was the energy strategy of Turkmenistan and the implementation of major cross-border projects.
Hero-Arkadag reminded that Turkmenistan firmly holds the fourth place in the world in terms of proven natural gas reserves. This imposes a special responsibility on the country in modern geo-economic conditions.
«The main goal is to ensure a reasonable diversification of energy flows, their balanced combination, security and reliability of supplies. At the political and international legal levels, we are building cooperation in the energy sector based on the requirements of modern global development and on the basis of mutual benefit», − the National Leader of the Turkmen People emphasised.
In the interview, special attention was paid to the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline.
«Our country is currently implementing one of the largest international projects, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline. Today, the construction of the first stage of TAPI, called « Arkadagyň ak ýoly », continues on the territory of Afghanistan. This project, which finds international support, including from the USA, has great potential in the context of meeting the growing energy needs of South Asian states, and also opens up good prospects for access to the emerging markets of the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East», − said the National Leader of the Turkmen people.
As Arkadag emphasised, the TAPI project is also of great importance in the context of political stability and economic well-being, and has investment attractiveness.
In this regard, the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that the TAPI project is open to all interested companies and expressed hope that the American partners would appreciate the prospects of participating in it.
