On 24 February 2026, the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Istanbul, O. Jumanazarov, held a meeting with the Rector of Medipol University of the Republic of Türkiye, Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the fields of higher education, science, and medicine, with particular emphasis on expanding academic ties and professional exchange.

A substantive exchange of views took place on issues related to the advancement of higher education systems, strengthening international partnerships, and creating favorable conditions for Turkmen students pursuing studies in the Republic of Türkiye. The Rector noted that the University is actively expanding its international engagement and consistently enhancing opportunities available to foreign students.

The Consul General emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches priority importance at the state level to the training of highly qualified specialists and to providing young people with access to education at reputable international institutions. It was noted that Turkmen students successfully pursuing academic programs in Türkiye make a meaningful contribution to further strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.

The meeting also addressed issues related to expanding scholarship programs, implementing academic mobility projects for faculty and students, and intensifying joint research activities. The importance of elaborating and concluding relevant agreements aimed at ensuring systematic and long-term cooperation was underscored.

Confidence was expressed that cooperation in the fields of education and science will further strengthen the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye and open new opportunities for the younger generation.
