Recently, the Turkmen National Conservatory hosted a competition to select the most beautiful female student of the university – “Student Beauty.” Each of the four faculties nominated one contestant for the title. But what does it mean to be a “student beauty”? First and foremost, it is about the contestant’s appearance and personal charm, followed by her abilities in her chosen specialty, as well as her skills in folk arts and crafts and cooking.

In the first round of the competition, titled “Glorifying the Motherland and the Hero Arkadag Through Your Profession,” the leader was first-year student of the Faculty of Folk Instruments, Byagul Dovletmyradova. With her performance on the dutar and her singing, she outscored her rivals. However, the other contestants did not lose heart—there were still two more rounds ahead, and they had every chance to catch up.

Colorful Turkmen embroidery is a national pride of our people. How the contestants would demonstrate their skills with needle and thread was revealed in the second round of the competition. Of course, it was impossible to complete an entire piece in a short time, so the task was to prepare a small fragment of embroidery in the traditional “yaka” style. In this round, the best performance came from second-year student of the Faculty of Composition, Music Theory, and Piano, Lachyn Atayeva.

The final and decisive round was still ahead. If a girl cannot cook traditional noodles, can she truly be called a beauty? Armed with rolling pins, the contestants for the title “Talyp Gözeli–2026” began rolling out the dough. Not only the jury members but also their fellow students closely watched their work. A tense silence filled the Small Hall of the conservatory. The question hung in the air: “Who will fortune smile upon this time?” Once again, fortune smiled on Byagul Dovletmyradova—she managed to complete the task more quickly and with better quality than the others.

The jury, which included Senior Lecturer of the Department of Social Sciences Gulshirin Otuzova, Head of the Department of Variety Art Maysa Mametjumayeva, and Head Librarian Maral Nuryeva, announced their verdict: the title “Talyp Gözeli–2026” at the university level was awarded to Byagul Dovletmyradova.

“It is a great honor for me to receive this title,” said Byagul, delighted by the news. “This event is a gift for me, my parents, and our faculty. The inter-university stage of the ‘Talyp Gözeli–2026’ competition lies ahead. Of course, I would like to win there as well, so that our conservatory can be even more proud of its students.”
